Stay healthy this holiday season

posted in: Recipes | 43

Hi everyone,

With holiday season almost upon us I thought I share with you a few healthy but delicious snacks and foods that help me to resist all the sugary temptations out there at this time of the year.

Persimmon fruits don’t only serve you as a great source of vitamins, minerals and anti oxidants, they also have a very distinctive delicious taste.

Pomelo is another fruit that is available during the colder months. Pomelo is for me the perfect family or friends get-together dessert. Sitting together while slowly peeling the skin of the fruit away can be fun and a perfect opportunity to communicate and spend more quality time together.

Butternut squash is such a great replacement for any starchy side dish. Its sweet flavor really emerges when it is roasted.  Whatever method you choose to prepare this fantastic vegetable, you will get plenty of vitamin A and C out of it for sure 🙂

Chestnuts are again fantastic to eat in company. Peeling them while sitting together is another great way to spend more time together. Just make sure to cut them up nicely but not too deeply to make this activity not too difficult (especially if you have a hungry crowd 😉

I did a YouTube video where you can see how I prepare these delicious goodies 🙂

Please let me know, what is your favorite healthy snack or food at this time of the year?

Thank you  so much for stopping by,

Mahshid

    • Wow!!! Really??? I would love to be able to do this. But isn’t it sometimes difficult to differentiate between horse chestnuts and sweet chestnuts? …Please lovely Esmeralda let me know how you differ those two form each other. <3 Thank you so much <3

  9. It’s funny but roasted chestnuts on the streets of NY were a classic here, then they stopped. I think it was banned or something. I think it is coming back again, but the scent is so distinctive and so makes me think of Manhattan during the holidays and winter.
