Fringe dresses

Hi everyone,

I immediately fell in love with this fringe ombre dress, but I actually thought I wouldn’t wear it. This is normally a good reason for not buying something! But the price tag at 15 pounds (about 17 EURO) convinced me otherwise and I didn’t come to regret it. There is something about this dress that lifts my spirit and makes me feel so feminine.

These fringe dresses are also known as flapper dresses and became popular in 1920’s. This was the time of the flapper movement and the flappers were freedom-loving women, who went out till late, drunk and smoked. It’s the so important first era when woman fashion started to relax and liberate form the stiffness of the old victorian style. The ground was set for today’s fashion lifestyle :).

Nowadays we see fringe style also on bags and accessories.

3. Forever 21 (2011, I think)

As with all trends, moderation is the key. So when incorporating the fringe trend in your look, one element at a time is a golden rule. Wearing a flapper dress and a flapper bag together in one look would be a bit too much ;), don’t you think?

Here are some more ideas about how I’d incorporate the fringe trend into a look.

I think there’s something bold and unexpected about fringe fashion. I enjoy the spirit of freedom and somehow a distance from established standards.
