Asian beauty and health products

posted in: Japan, Tokyo, Travels | 2

Hi everyone,

Japan for sure is a heaven for beauty lovers. I could spend forever in their drugstores. Since most of their products have no English descriptions, it was not always easy to get the most out of heaven. But luckily my lovely friend Yoko came for the rescue and we spent more than 2 hours in only one drugstore.

Below is my selection of products which you should find in many countries in the Far East.

AsianBeautyProducts

1: Facial sheet masks: There are available for all skin types and budgets. You will find a huge section in almost any Japanese drugstore. The majority were made in Korea or Japan. I was intrigued by their selection and went for some very unusual ones, such as

  • Red ginseng essence mask 紅参エッセンスマスク,
  • Sea weed essence mask 雑草エッセンスマスクを参照してください。,
  • Euglena essence mask ユーグレナエッセンスマスク ,
  • Snake venom essence mask 蛇毒エッセンスマスク.

2. Sheet masks for feet and hands.

3. Deodorant antibacterial insoles (so girly).

4. Hair color foam: I bought this product on a recommendation from Eki, a beauty guru on Youtube.

5. False eye lashes and a glue: I never use false eye lashes, but as they seem to be very popular in Asia, I had to have some too ;).

6. Make-up base: This is probably the best beauty product I have ever bought. It is from the Japanese brand Kanebe. It was not cheap, but it is by far the best moisturizer I’ve ever had and it also has SPF 30. Since I normally do not apply any foundation, I use this great product as a moisturizer and sun protection during the day.

7. Kao Megurhythm Steam Hot Eye Mask (14 sheets): It heats up to around 40C for 10 mins and relaxes tired eyes.

8. Small cute bags: This is something I picked up from my very well organized friend Yoko, who uses these small compartments to keep her bags neat and tidy. By doing so, she can also change bags quickly without forgetting small bits or pieces.

9: Japanese mascara.

10: Moisturizing sheet masks in big boxes.

11: Underarm sweat sheet: These are little pads that are applied to your clothes directly and should protect them from stains and sweat. I was not impressed by this product. The pads are balky and make crinkly noises when you move your arm.

Here you see some other random Asian products I purchased on my trip to Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

My Taiwanese friend Pei-Chen knows I am a true believer in traditional Chinese medicine. So she took me to see a real Chinese doctor and afterwards we also went to a traditional pharmacy, where we purchased healtly snacks and teas. It was a great experience and I loved it.

Of course I’ve also purchased accessories and cloths from my last Asian trip that I’ll share in a different post.

Thank you very much for visiting.

  1. Kanebe is very good. When I was in China, I bought mascara and eye shadows from this brand, they were really good. I am looking forward to seeing all the clothes you bought in Asia 🙂

    • Hi Lin,
      Thank u for your comment.
Yes, Kanebo is now my fav. You can buy their products all over the world but in Japan they were much cheaper. Is it right that many beauty products in China come from Korea? I read good reviews about them. What do u think?
